Box of Inchies

Believe it or not, in the midst of going to the farmer's market, doing laundry, putting up the Christmas Tree (& decorating it), starting dinner (roast pork, mmm) and all those other things, I did actually manage to craft today. For Christmas, I had intended to make a box of inchies for my mother, but I decided that she would have more fun if she could help choose the stuff, so the two of us went up and made inchies. We made our lives a little easier by doing them onto paper (we used 6 different kinds of rusted paper) rather than fabric bases. The photo on the right shows the final arrangement, but as the colour is a bit off, I've put the left hand photo in as well, which shows the colours better - we were still playing with arrangements at that point. I think they are pretty fabulous, if I do say so myself.

And got some nice stuff in the post today - on the left is a Christmas card from Julie (again, bad colour, but then again, the weather today has been dark and gloomy) and a package of bits (I love bits. You guys know that. And hey, we used one on the inchies, so they were well timed!)
And two postcards, both for the L is for... swap - on the left, Lace from Priscilla and on the right, Luciano (Pavarotti) from Judy. Tomorrow, school fair, so frankly, it's a good thing we'll have the advent calendar and the giveaway draw or it would be a dull day in blogville.

The box of Inchies looks wonderful, I love the warm glow of it. Isn´t it nice to spend some quality time with members of the family and make some art at the same time? I did the same in summer with my Mum and my DSis and in Autumn with a dear friend and each time it was fun and very rewarding.
I have the same feeling about bits! I collect them as well, one never knows! Take care.

Awww, it's all so sweet! I love the box of inchies, it's grate.
But the Pavarotti postcard is funny, because the man doesn't look like Luciano at all. :D
Nice work!

So ambitious. But it is so much fun to work with someone of like mind. I love the inchies. Well done.

The inchies look great. It must have been nice to spend that time creating with your Mum. Glad my 'bit' came in handy! Hope you don't mind, I've pinched the pic of my card as I forgot to take one before I sent it. Doh!

Wow Kate - I've missed reading your blog for a few days and got such a shock about how many posts there were to catch up on! All fabulous too - love love the box of inchies, think your advent calendar pieces are just too sweet for words and love the vibrancy of your recycled postcards. Love the mostly missing sleeve comment!! I can relate...The leafy postcard from Julie is just awesome - so textural! Have a great time with your Mum.

Nice box of inchies, and that post card of Luciano is fabulous! What do you do with all the postcards you receive, do you have some method of displaying them?
