Spring Postcards

Finally got around to changing the postcards in my fabric postcard display: usually I change it 4 or 5 times a year; until now, it still had autumn themed postcards in it (which is really unusual as I have never before neglected to change it at Christmas - this year, I didn't even notice I hadn't done so until January!).   Anyway, a spring theme now, which will probably last until at least mid Summer.

Postcard Wall Hanging: Early Summer

I'm trying to remember to change the cards in the wallhanging more often, so I can display more of the cards that I own from my many past trades...  This one was done a week or two ago, and has a kind of purple/green theme to it.  I'll probably get out my brighter/sunnier cards for later in the summer if I remember, that is!  Here are some of the cards featured:

Christmassy postcards

Another view of the postcard wallhanging, now with a winter (& Christmas selection) - after Christmas, I'll take down the really really Christmassy ones and put in some nice wintery ones I have which don't fit in it now. A lot of the trees will probably stay, but some of the presents, etc, will no doubt go away...

Autumn postcards

With the change in weather, I decided it was about time for a change in postcards - they were very springlike, which no longer seemed appropriate, so I have swapped them all for more autumnal things.

I tend to change them around about 4 or 5 times a year - I do an autumnal collection, which stays up until seasonal ones (Christmas & winter mixed) - after New Year's the Christmas ones come down, to be replaced by more non-Christmas wintery ones. Some time in spring I change to spring flowers, and then sometimes a summer display. I always tell myself that one year I am going to put up a set of "just because I like them" cards or do a colour theme or...  the problem, as with most things, is time.  It's easy to do a seasonal display, as I just grab all the cards in that theme, and slot them up - takes about 10 minutes.  Maybe this year will be the year for a random but fun display, perhaps sometime in January when I am bored of winter but it's not yet time for Spring!

Anyway, here are a few to admire. The gourd was made by Melinda for a swap with the group Arts in the Mail. The other three are from various BQL (British Quilting List) Postcard Group swaps, made by Sheila, Kandy and Sue, in that order:

A change of postcards

My postcard hanger has been languishing with the blue and wintery cards for long enough - the time has come to at least pretend that it's spring (and, touch wood, the weather has been a lot warmer this week!).  So, lots of flowers, and some green cards to help wiht the spring feel - thanks to Alex, who arranged it all by himself this time around.

Christmassy postcards

Now that we have decorated the house for Christmas, I will show again my fabric postcard hanger - this time, with wintery and Christmassy postcards in.  They'll stay like this until early January, when I'll take out the really Christmassy things (leaving the snow scenes, snowmen, and other things which were just wintery, and adding a few other things which seem wintery).   Here are a few closeups...

Autumn Postcards

If you are a regular reader, you will probably have seen my wall hanging for fabric postcards before. I try to change the cards in it at least a few times a year - sometimes more, if I get inspired. I do have a lot of autumnal cards, though, so Autumn is one of the themes I tend to use regularly (along with Christmas and Spring/Summer - it's the other things I don't do as much!)

So, this past weekend, I changed all the floral and sunshiny cards for some autumnal ones - here are just a few, closeup.   Love this scene of tractor at sunset - perhaps not specifically autumnal, but it feels that way to me.  Maybe it's a harvest thing?

These trees, looking up into the canopy are great, aren't they?

This one, again, isn't specifically autumnal, but it kind of feels Harvest Moon-ish to me.

An autumn gourd.

This leaf is in very subtle colours, with lots of different sheer fabrics.

And these little houses - this is actually one I made myself - there are a few in my hanging which I made, though the majority are traded ones...

Fabric postcard giveaway

1) Spiderweb

I used to make rather a lot of fabric postcards, and for various reasons, have accumulated some extras - these are beyond any I may have made and mailed to myself.  I don't really need these, so I've decided to give them away to any blog readers who comment. (I'll draw names as necessary if I have too many people interested). Happy to post anywhere - I will be in the US this summer so can easily mail to that part of the world cheaply.  If you are interested, leave a comment saying which card(s) you like. I'll work it all out sometime between now and the end of July...

2) zigzag

3)Oriental lantern

4) brown and green

5) sunshine (this one didn't photograph well - it's a sun made using angelina and sheer fabric with stitching)

6) recycled (again, bad photo - all materials are reused, including clothing scraps, a bit of tin can, stamp, ribbon, button)

7) zigzag with buttons

8) silver & gold (again, hard to photograph - the flash on photo showed nothing at all beyond a glare!)

9) flower vase
