Contrary Quilting
Today Geoff took the kids swimming (well, two of them - Sarah is at a friends for the weekend) and I did some work on quilting the Contrary Wife. This photo doesn't really show very well, but the quilting pattern is a sort of meander, with some fern fronds thrown in.
In the four dark pink blocks, I am going to do insects - dragonflies & butterflies, I think - here are two - I haven't done the other two yet. They aren't perfect, but not bad for freehand and made up as you go along.
It's now about halfway quilted (not quite) and I hope to get it finished (the quilting, I mean) before the end of the week.

Those freehand details are very nice! I haven't ventured into free motion quilting on my machine yet. I don't know why it scares me so much.
What type of machine are you using?
Great idea to put insect inside those squares. It looks great. I still love the colours too.
It is truly lovely. I think the new owner will find that it is a real joy to look at.
I also would like to know what kind of machine you are quilting it on.
Wow - your machine quilting looks great!
It's coming along quite nicely Kate, someone is going to be very pleased when she gets it :)
