This month's block lotto features scrappy Maverick Stars on a red background. Although I had lots of fabric from my mom's stash, I didn't have any red, so I picked up a bit at Hobby Lobby to make these stars. I will probably make some more while I am here, as they are easy and fun and I can just about manage them on my mother's sewing machine...

I took a one week course--at Quilting by the Lake-- with Gwen Marston, who "invented" that block. Poor Gwen: she really struggled to get me to loosen up and do some "liberated" work. Nah...didn't really work; I am a little too structured! But I do love the look of your blocks. So, what's with your mom's masheen?
