Wonky Beauty

Worked today on the July block for the new round of the birthday block swap - twice. I started with the block on the left - now, the colour there is not totally true - the fabrics used are the same in both versions of the block - but still, you can see why I decided to do a second one. The central arc was a little short on the left one as well, but that could have fairly easily been fixed with a little picking and unpicking - but when I finished it I decided there was too little contrast in the central arc and that using the sand coloured batik on the little strip was too pushy. The right-hand one is better. Not bad for my first (well, second!) New York Beauty block, ever.

This one will be on the way to Joy before too long...

Well, no one loves a do-over (least of all me, lately!), but I agree -- the second one really pops. And you're brave, too -- your block is very spiky.

What a DIFFERENCE just a small change in fabrics makes!

I'd just toss that first one...*L*

Good on you for going with your convictions and changing the colour arrangement - and I thought you were an expert at these when we were talking about them

The second one is miles ahead! Well done.

Good (final) outcome. Maybe you and I can do a joint project with all our reject attempted NYB blocks from this years swap!

The second NYB is definitely the best, but the other one isn't bad either. If it were surrounded by other's it would probably blend quite well..........
