Although most of my time this holiday week has been spent hanging around doing very little, I did finally take some time one day to make up a few blocks, using strips from my strip bag (and a few from the scrap basket). I've just gone with a generic light/dark block, rather than any colour theme (though there's a lot of navy and black in there). They'll do, I'm sure. There are 12 blocks (12" blocks) so it will make a small quilt top, which is all I need...

What's next...
Coming up soon in my sewing (assuming I have any time in the next few weeks) - looks like a sort out of the scrap basket and/or strip bag is in order. They're getting really full!

Slightly bigger scrappy top
...and I put this one together as well - a few more blocks to it, but basically the same as yesterday's. Again, it will need a border, but that's a concern for another time.

Little scrappy top
Spent some time today putting together some scrappy blocks into a top. No border yet, but it's going in the pile...

Pink Panther Top
I like this one a lot - The subdued neutral blocks in the centre work well with the Pink Panther themed border. I think it will appeal to an older child - might even get earmarked for Teenage Cancer Trust instead of Project Linus.

String 1 & String 2 (and String 3)
These are three smaller string tops - like the larger one I showed the other day. These, however, will get borders on them in the fullness of time.

Large String Top
I had a lot of string blocks - it's what I make when my string bag gets too full (usually). So I decided to put some together into a top. This one, at 6x6 blocks (the blocks are about 8"), doesn't really need a border, so it will go off to Linus without one. Some smaller tops, in progress, will eventually get borders.

Little top with Green Border

Blue Roman Stripes with Number Border
This one has been sitting waiting for a border for a while, but after pairing up all those waiting tops the other day, I decided it was time to stitch some of those borders on. Here, I've used a border print with lots of numbers in it - it went well with the interior quilt top.

Scrappy blocks with Egyptian print
Here are those blocks, assembled into a top. I'll now put them in the pile for bordering, though it may be a while before I find something suitable.

Little scrappies into Bigger scrappies
These blocks are made up from 4 smaller scrappy blocks each. I had a big stack of very small blocks; with four sewn together, you get an 8" block, which is a great size.
Here's a closer view:

Squares and rectangles
...And here's one of those sets of blocks put together into a little top - the blocks were made of a long rectangle, with three squares on each side - I pieced them together alternating direction. Now it can go in the pile of Linus tops waiting for borders...

Block lotto Hearts
Having managed to sneak in at the very very last minute for December's Block Lotto, I decided January would go the opposite way (that and the fact that I actually have one more day of holiday before going back to work, so actually had time to sew again). So, here are four scrappy heart blocks for January's lotto. (If you want to make some of these blocks, either for the Lotto or for yourself, the pattern can be found here...)
I made them using "made fabric" - the rectangles below are the red "fabric" that I used to make the simple hearts above. The heart pattern itself is very quick and easy, but of course stitching the small scraps together to make the red made fabric takes a bit of time. Anyway, they are cute, and whether I win or not, it's always fun to take part.
