The idea of this swap was to make a house from ATCs - not a small, house-shaped ATC, but a house composed of 6 different ATCs, which went together to make a house - two roof pieces, one door and three windows. And then you got back the same, only not from the same artist. Challenging in a different way!

Revisiting my Journal Quilt Project, week 50

ATC Friday
Some round robin cards today, where I was the second player to add something. Second player is the hardest, I think - adding something which moves the card forward without being too much, so there's space for the third person. It's fairly easy when the cards are very basic, like these. Less so, when they are more elaborate to start with.
These ones, for instance, had a lot more on them when I received them, so I just added some words.

ATC Tuesday
This swap was a little different - the host sent out a selection of pre-made background cards and we had to use them to make a card. You were allowed to alter them quite drastically if you wanted to, but I tried to keep to the spirit of the exercise and make sure the background showed well.
So I'm showing the finished card, with the background, in each case. Sometimes the background was fairly neutral, like the one below. Sometimes it led the card, like the one above.

Autumnal Wedding Quilt
Finally got the binding on this quilt - the friend who its for is getting married this week, but Geoff is away in Lisbon, so won't see her until after that. Shame he's away; we could have gone to the wedding. But anyway, I'm sure she won't mind getting the quilt after the wedding...
My longarmer just happened to have a pattern with pumpkins and leaves, which suited this one perfectly.

Revisiting my Journal Quilt Project, week 49
Here's another one of my favourite things - a dual purpose piece. This little journal quilt not only serves as a journal quilt (last week's) but also as a piece for the Challenge Quilts group, where the current theme is "Imagine". I realise the major word on the piece is "hope", but "imagine" is also up there, in the corner. And the quilt was inspired by the word imagine - I often think of imagination as a web - words and images weaving together in the mind, so the webs seemed natural. Not to mention, it's kind of that time of year. So the piece is done in autumnal, slightly Hallowe'eny colours with spider webs stitched in each square and some inspirational words and faces.

ATC Friday
These round robin cards are ones where I was the second player to add something. So you can see the finished product, but also the original starter and what it looked like after I added something.

ATC Tuesday
This was another one of those swaps where someone sends the players some items in the post, and the players have to use them on their cards. In this instance, I received part of a magazine page - I used the black side of it on this card, the other items being from my own stash -
the word "wow" on a sticker and a piece of painted paper in blue and pinnk (from which I cut the lightning bolts)
and the arrow.
This card uses the other side of the magazine page and the frame around the "wow" sticker.

Revisiting my Journal Quilt Project, week 48
With this journal quilt, I wasn't really inspired until this lovely drawing which Olivia did for me years ago fell off the pinboard again - I decided to turn it into a journal quilt as it does fall off the pinboard on a fairly regular basis. Now I'll have it forever as a journal quilt. I love the way the leaves are all on the same side of the stems!

OMG, it's actually a quilt
This is a wedding present for someone getting married later this month, so it's probably about time I got the binding on it. Nothing like a bit of procrastination...

ATC Tuesday
These cards were for a swap where you had to use at least three postage stamps (I think) per card. I decided to try to make a few cards using some of those less interesting stamps which you don't always use up. I had lots of these same stamps, so tried to use a bunch of them at once.
The same was true for these clock stamps - I had loads and was never quite sure what to do with them. Looking through my stash, I found a butterfly with the same colour wings, so this card grew out of that.
This one is a bit more straightforward.
And this one, I went with a travel theme as I seemed to have some colour coordinated stamps with buildings on them...

Revisiting my Journal Quilt Project, week 47
This week's journal quilt was made from a leftover page for a book that I made for a friend's 40th birthday. The pages for that were from an online course I did on fabric book pages, I think. To have a look at the whole book, check out this post.

ATC Friday
These three sets of ATCs were ones which I started - who knows how they will come back to you when you start them off.
