Another Quilt to Show

This is a quilt I made not all that long ago for a friend and co-worker of Geoff's. She was kind enough to recently send me a photo of the quilt in situ - she brings it out for spring & summer (or what would be spring and summer if the British weather would cooperate!). Doesn't it look sweet? I still am really fond of this quilt, made from blocks won in the Block Lotto.

Cross Stitch Mystery

As I've done practically no stitching this week, I thought I'd share a link to a new mystery I've signed up to. Three parts, it's a Hallowe'en theme - who knows, I might even get it stitched by Hallowe'en (but let's not put money on that, shall we?).  Supplied, as usual, by my excellent enabler, Karla at The Patchwork Rabbit.

Trunk Show Tuesday

The next oldie in my book - scrappy Puss In The Corner, made for my mum for her birthday in 2001, apparently.  This one is probably hanging about her house somewhere, too. When I'm there this summer, I'll have to dig out all the quilts I've made and photograph them!

Once again, the quilting is really simple; I've moved on a lot since then!

Tiny Sneak Peek

Over the weekend, I quilted a mini quilt for the Cotton Robin, a round robin I take part in every year (so far). We can't show the pieces we are working on in any meaningful detail, but I can assure you that this sneak peak is really not a meaningful detail.  Soon I'll be able to show all the pieces I worked on (4 of them - my centre block, a first round addition, a second round addition and this one, which I quilted, bound and put a hanging sleeve and label on).

Black and Neutral Novelties - II

Not the same set of blocks assembled as yesterday - from the same master set, but these are the rest of the blocks. Two little quilts, similar, but not the same. This one is also now waiting for a border.

Black and Neutral Novelties - I

Some blocks, now assembled into a top. And waiting a border.

ATC Friday

This card didn't need much when it came to me, I thought, so  I simply stamped a few dragonflies on it.

And this one was even harder to decide on - it was already quite full and had a lot of personality. In the end, I just went for a small frog in the corner.

Finished!

And here it is, done and bound and off to the new owner (actually, it's been given over already - nothing like working down to the last minute...).

Cross Stitch Update

Some real progress made this week  - finished the drink me and eat me, including the lettering. And started on the next figure.

Trunk Show Tuesday

Another oldie - a runner made to go on Geoff's dresser. The runner itself hasn't changed much:

though the floor of the bedroom has (the carpet is the old flooring).

These photos are old and not great colour quality, but you can see in the photo above a more accurate view of the colour.  We have two different runners now, which we alternate, so there's a cover when one is in the wash, but the old one is still in use all these years later, and had this quilt come up in the trunk show a week or two ago, I could have actually photographed it on the dresser, in situ!

Binding ready to stitch

...so that will be a project for a night or two!

A visit to the quilt show

Spend a few hours at the Quilt Championships at Sandown - it's not actually a big show, despite the name, but it is only 15 minutes from my house, so I always like to go.  I bought a few things, of course - some fat quarters which I liked for one reason or another,

a pack of 10" squares in fun metallic prints,

a couple of charm packs  - all from New Threads Quilt Shop, my friend Meg's quilt shop.

Also picked up some novelty FQs on sale

and some inexpensive fun fabrics for borders for Linus quilts, etc. Not quite as cheap as the sale at Farnham Maltings in January, but still pretty good prices for UK shops...

Baby quilt, quilted

And here it is, quilted. Luckily, it's a small job to quilt something this size, especially when you are just using a simple meander (with a few hearts thrown in).

Here's the overall pic - looks the same as with the pins, really, as you can't see the quilting unless you are close up.

Used this print for the back.

And as I said above, threw some hearts into the meander, for fun.

ATC Friday

A couple of finished cards - I was the last person to work on both of these, which meant two people had already been working on them. Sometimes, that doesn't leave much space, like with these divers - I just added some fish cut from some shimmery plastic paper.

Sometimes, there's more space, like with these oyster mushroom cards. I actually lifted up the embellishment that person number two added, so that I could get the picture of the noodle bowl underneath - sometimes you have to cheat like that!

Baby quilt pinned & ready

Here's the little baby quilt I have to quilt and bind this week. It's a top which I've had around for a while, and didn't seem to fit the personalities of various people having babies. I'm glad it's finally getting put to use!

Cross Stitch Update

A little further, though again, not a huge amount. I can't imagine there will be much next week either, though after that, the girls will both be finished with exams, which means we may go back to watching an hour or so of television in the evenings, which means more stitching!  This coming week, I have a little quilt to bind, though, so that will take one evening...

Tuesday Trunk Show

This page didn't scan very well - cut the top off the picture - but looking back at the book, the photo isn't that much bigger anyway, so I thought I'd just show the page in toto rather than crop the old photos out, as I've been doing until now. This log cabin quilt is one I made for my friend Kiki's wedding 16 years ago. Some pages of my quilt book were really organised - I even managed to keep scraps of the fabrics used. Though not for all of them. I really liked this quilt, though now of course I wish I'd been able to quilt it better at the time. Still, I'm sure it got good use!

State of the Scrapbaskets

Lots of bits and pieces happening around here means lots of stuff going in the scrapbasket and strip bag. Not long before Something Will Have to Be Done about them...

The sneakiest of sneak peeks

Today, I'm using these for something. And that's all I can say on that front...for the moment, anyway.

Wonky double four patches...together

I showed these blocks recently, but without the blocks sewn together; they are now sewn together. I think they will want a border, still, but at least it's one stage further down the line.

ATC Friday

A couple more ATCs from the files, so to speak. These are both cards where I was the second of three players - which means I got the card, added something to it, and sent it along to someone else to finish up.

I didn't add much to this one (just the washi tape) as it seemed quite full to start with.

Goodies in

A little order from Hobbycraft UK - mainly I wanted some more of those tiny letters, which I use all the time in my ATCs, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to see what other fun goodies were in stock, could I?

Cross Stitch Update

Is this the slowest cross-stitch progress ever? All I stitched this past week was the beginnings of this bottle, which in time will say "Drink me". Oh well, slow but steady wins the race, as they say.

Tuesday Trunk Show

Welcome to the Tuesday Virtual Trunk Show. Yes, I'm still digging up (so to speak) really old quilts to show - who knew there were so many? This one was made in, apparently, January 2001 and was a present for my brother-in-law and sister-in-law in Australia. As far as I know, they still have it. Perhaps I'll tag my SIL on FB when this posts and ask her to take a photo if she knows where it is (they've moved a lot in the past few years).  It's bright and cheerful, but again, has pretty minimal quilting on it.

What to do with a charm pack, part 2

And here we have some bordered blocks from the Walk in the Woods charm pack. I didn't use all the charms, but I used the most interesting ones - the more textural ones I will use for other things, later.
